Sports administrators converge on Bauchi over 2024/2025 league season

The leadership of the Nigeria National League (NNL) and sports administrators of different clubs across the country have converged on Bauchi to strategise over the 2024/2025 national league.

Speaking in Bauchi over the weekend at the 2024 Annual General Meeting (AGM), the Chairman of NNL, Mr. George Aluo, said that the NNL Board within one year of its inauguration has succeeded in changing the face of the League. He pledged to consolidate on the gains of the 2023/2024 league season.

“No doubt, the overall standard of the League ranging from officiating, attitudinal behavior to the league operations has improved tremendously. We do hope this will be replicated in the 2024/2025 League season.

“To this end, the board humbly solicits for the understanding and the total cooperation of all club presidents and football stakeholders in order to smoothly prosecute the 2024/2025 League season,” he said.

While speaking, Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed who was the special guest of honour commended the leadership of the NNL for its commitment to excellence and upholding the standards of football in Nigeria. 

Mohammed who was represented by his Deputy, Hon. Auwal Jatau said that NNL has been a pillar of grassroots football, fostering local talents and ensuring that the spirit of competition remains vibrant across all regions. 

“At this juncture, I enjoin the Nigerian National League to continue promoting fairness, transparency, and inclusiveness in its operations. It is essential to give a level playing field for all participating clubs, regardless of their size or resources. This will not only foster healthy competition but also strengthen the credibility of the League and encourage the growth of football at the grassroots,” the Governor said.

The AGM was attended by the President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Alh. Ibrahim Gusau, NFF General Secretary, a former president of NFF Aminu Maigari, a former Secretary General Sani Toro and representatives of different clubs across the country.
