Almajiri: Sheikh Dahiru establishes formal education to integrates Qur'anic school

A renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi has integrated Qur'anic School with western education as part of effort to reduce Almajiri begging in the society.

The Cleric has established nursery, primary and secondary schools in Bauchi to incorporate Qur'anic schools. Speaking during the commissioning ceremony of the newly constructed Mu’assasa Model Quranic Nursery and Primary School in Bauchi built by the scholar in Bauchi, yesterday, the state Commissioner for Education, Dr. Jamila Mohammed Dahiru, commended the Sheikh Dahiru Foundation for its commitment and efforts towards the improvement of education.

Jamila who was represented by one of the directors in the ministry, Aishatu Ahmad Aminu, the Commissioner urged the Foundation to do more for the educational development of the state. 

Jamila said that integrating Islamic studies into modern education would foster a well-grounded understanding and reiterated the commitment of the state government to prioritise education.

She called for collaborative efforts to address social issues and promote collective growth in the state.

The Foundation’s Director of Education, Sidi Aliyu Sise Dahiru Bauchi, said the organisation is looking for ways to reduce the Almajiri begging in the society, and promote seeking for both western and Islamic education as a measure to address the socio economic challenges bedeviled the country.

"The foundation is looking for ways to improve the condition of learning in all almajiri schools and provide them with a way to get permanent feeding and other basic needs so that they can get the conducive environment for learning,” he said.
