Property destroyed as fire razed eight shops in Bauchi

Multi-million naira shops have been razed by fire outbreak that occurred in the early hours of Sunday at Tashan Babeye, within the Bauchi metropolis.

Eyewitnesses reported that the fire started between 2am and 3am after the close of business. It was reported that some residents of the area noticed smoke emanating from one of the shops, which rapidly caught the other seven shops.
One of the business owners, Umar Abubakar Dandada recounted that he got a distressed call around 4:00 am that his shop was on fire. “I headed to the scene, but unfortunately, my shop had been completely destroyed. I lost over N5million worth of electronics materials," he said.
Another shop owner, Shuaibu Usman said that when he arrived at the scene he saw his neighbor's shops on fire. “With the help of others, I managed to salvage some of my properties, but the fire continued to ravage the remaining shops."

The firefighters arrived at the scene, but unfortunately, they were unable to extinguish the fire due to a lack of water.

The affected traders have appealed to the government and well-to-do individuals to provide assistance, as their livelihoods depend on their businesses.
