Yuletide: FRSC deploys 890 personnel in Bauchi



The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has deployed 890 personnel to respond to road issues during the Christmas and new year celebrations in Bauchi state.

The Sector Commander, FRSC in the state, Istifanus Ibrahim disclosed this in an interview with Newsmen on Tuesday.

The Sector Commander, who said that the figure comprised both regular and special marshals, added that they will help to curb and respond to road accidents during the celebrations and clear obstructions where necessary in the state.

He explained that four ambulances, six tow trucks and 18 patrol vehicles mainly for highway surveillance, speed control and alert to motorists of obstructions have been deployed.

“The enforcement for the period shall target excessive speeding, dangerous driving, excessive loading, among others. 

“Communication equipment will be put at their optimum level while inter connectivity will be accorded the desired attention.

“We are prepared to serve you well and respond to all crash information that gets to us and we have men that are on the standby rescue in 24 hours that will attend to emergency needs on our highways.

“We are also collaborating with other sister security agencies for prompt response and ensure hitch-free celebrations,” he said.

The Sector Commander also said that health services providers would also be on ground to provide prompt services to road traffic crashes victims to curtail fatality.

He urged passengers to speak up against dangerous driving and called for stakeholders' support in the fight against road traffic crashes.
