Among the 500 cadets and officers that passed out of the Bauchi State Traffic Road Agency (BAROTA), only four among them were women while 496 others are men.
Speaking at the inauguration of the traffic police on Saturday, Governor Bala Mohammed urged the 500 cadets and traffic marshals who have successfully completed a rigorous training under the Agency to be disciplined and dedicated, while charging them to be a new generation of leaders committed to improving road safety and traffic management in our state.
According to the Governor, BAROTA plays a crucial role in addressing road transport challenges, enforcing traffic laws, ensuring safety, and managing traffic flow. “My administration is firmly committed to supporting the agency by providing resources, infrastructure, and ongoing training. We also plan to expand the workforce to 2,000 personnel, ensuring the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and compassion guide their operations.”
Mohammed warned against indiscipline, corruption, and abuse of power, emphasising that such behavior would not be tolerated. The Governor assured the officers of their operational autonomy, urging them to stay focused on their responsibilities.
“To enhance BAROTA’s efficiency, I have directed local government chairmen to establish offices in their areas and collaborate closely with the agency.”
Also speaking, a training consultant, Mr. Abdulmumuni Aliyu, MD/CEO Girdo Technical and Engineering Services Limited, said that among the 500 recruits, there are only four women, while pleading with Governor to increase thw number to accommodate more female officers.
