Group Petitions NAHCON Over Re-instatement Of Usman Kumo 'Who Voluntary Resigned

By Najib Sani, Gombe

A petition has been submitted to the Chairman/CEO of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) over reinstatement of Usman Ardo Kumo into the Commission despite his alleged voluntary resignation to pursue political ambition.

The petition, written by a pressure group 'Civil Integrity Initiative', and signed by its leader, Musa J. Kumo, a copy issued to our correspondent yesterday in Gombe alleged that the director administration of the commission, Babagana Bukar facilitated the improper reinstatement and posting of Usman Ardo Kumo to the Federal Civil Service and NAHCON.

According to the petition, Kumo resigned from the Federal Civil Service on two separate occasions, first in 2019 to join the All-Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and later in 2023 to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

It says these actions allegedly violate Public Service Rules 030402(g) and 030423, which prohibit serving civil servants from engaging in active political pursuits.

The petition further claims that Bukar, who was then Director of Administration at the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) concealed information about Kumo's resignation, enabling his eventual return to the civil service.

The petitioners demand a comprehensive investigation into the matter, disciplinary action, and an immediate review of Kumo's employment status.

This is even as they threatened to pursue legal action if their demands are not met within seven days.
