The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Bauchi State Command has arrested and paraded 10 suspects for various crimes committed during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
This is contained in a statement signed by ASII Saminu Yusuf, Spokesperson of the command and made available to newsmen on Wednesday in Bauchi.
He said the suspects were arrested for vandalism, rape, and theft, and were paraded at the NSCDC Bauchi State Command headquarters on January 2, 2025.
“Seven suspects were arrested for vandalism on December 24, 2024, at Zaranda Village in Toro Local Government Area for vandalizing the old Nitel tower.
“The suspects arrested include; Hassan Sadiq 31, from Bauchi, Muhammed Sani 32, from Bauchi, Jamiu Umar 45, from Bauchi.
Others are Zilkifulu Muhammed, 30, from Bauchi, Sani Muhammed, 48, from Bauchi, Aliyu Manga, 48, from Toro and Mohammad Maigari Muhammed, 45, from Bauchi
“The Items recovered from the suspects include six oxyacetylene gas cylinders, perimeter fencing wire mesh, and part of the vandalized tower,” the Spokesperson said.
Yusuf said the two suspects of theft are Idris Musa 24, and Muhammed Muhammed, 24, both from Bauchi, were arrested on Dec 31, 2024, at Alkabir Global Investment Filling Station in Kajutu Turum area of Bauchi metropolis for stealing two drums that powered a lister generator.
“While rape suspect Ibrahim Saudiq 20, from Misau, was arrested on Dec 27, 2024, for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl in an uncompleted building in Misau Local Government Area,” the Spokesperson said
According to him, The State Commandant, Oloyede Nelson Oyerinde, commended his personnel for their commitment to safeguarding public infrastructures.
“He warned perpetrators to desist from vandalism and other crimes or face legal consequences.
“He urged Bauchi state residents to assist the corps with vital information to help fight against vandalism and other crimes,” the Spokesperson said.
