Qadiriyya gets new Khalifa in Bauchi

A famous Islamic Scholar Sheikh Qaribullahi Nasiru Kabara, Leader of the Qadiriyya Movement in Africa, has appointed Professor Muhammad Safiyyu Abdulqadir Jahun as Khalifah Qadiriyya in Bauchi State.

Sheikh Qaribullahi gave the appointment at the Islamic Heritage Conference organized by the Association for the Revival of Islamic Heritage and Sheikh Usman Dan Fodio, Bauchi

He said Professor Safiyyu was appointed on merit because of his vast Islamic knowledge, fear of Allah and his numerous efforts towards the propagation of Islam.

Sheikh Qaribullahi urged disciples of Sheikh Abdulqadir to cooperate with the new khalifa in following the path of Allah and Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
Qaribullah Nasiru who chaired the conference said it served as a reminder of the significant historical and cultural contributions of the Sokoto Caliphate and its relevance in contemporary governance and societal development.

Professor Muhammad Safiyyu Abdulkadir was a lecturer at the Federal University of Kashere Gombe State.

The new khalifa, Professor Muhammad Saflyyu Abdulkadir presented a new book he authored on the life of Sheikh Usman Danfodio titled "the Islamic Foudian Reform Movement and Its Characteristics in Human Development in West Africa (the Islamic Perspective.)

He said the new book includes the introduction of Sheikh Usman Danfodio, his lineage, birth and upbringing, his creed, jurisprudential doctrine, sufism, character, morals, death, factors of his scientific formation, and a statement on the situation of the Hausa Emirates before the establishment of the Islamic Foudia Movement for Reform. 
It Contains a Statement About the Social, Religious and Political Situation, and It Mentions the Establishment of the Islamic Foudia Movement for Reform in terms of education, advocacy, guidance, the Hijri Renaissance, the Jihadist Renaissance, and the Establishment of the Islamic State. 

He Mentioned the characteristics of the Foudian Movement for Human Development in West Africa According to the Islamic Perspective.

The State Governor, Bala Mohammed, who was honoured at the occasion, reaffirmed his commitment to promoting economic sustainability and social equality in the state. 

Governor Mohammed highlighted the critical role such gatherings play in fostering intellectual, spiritual, and socio-cultural reawakening, expressed his gratitude and lauded the organizers for choosing Bauchi as the venue for the prestigious event. 

He emphasized that the conference was not just a celebration of Sheikh Usman Dan Fodio’s historical contributions but also a platform to reflect on Nigeria's shared legacy and chart a path for a brighter future.

Governor Mohammed said that the legacy of Shehu Usman Dan Fodio, the founder of the Sokoto Caliphate, is one of the most iconic in African history. Dan Fodio's jihad was a transformative movement that reshaped the socioeconomic, educational, and political landscapes of Northern Nigeria and Western Sudan. 

He urged the audience to celebrate Dan Fodio's intellectual brilliance, religious devotion, and administrative acumen.

Mohammed praised the Sokoto Caliphate's enduring influence, particularly its emphasis on justice, inclusion, and governance.

He acknowledged the critical role of traditional institutions in Bauchi State, highlighting efforts by his administration to restore and elevate their importance. 

These efforts, he stated, include renovating palaces, providing vehicles, and revising the financial support for emirs and district heads to better reflect their pivotal role in societal harmony and progress.

He dedicated the prestigious award he received at the event to the people of Bauchi, expressing gratitude for their unwavering support and promising to continue working for their betterment.
