Prof. Ibrahim Suleiman, the Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Engineering Technology, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi state has reiterated commitment to equip the students with innovative skills to tackle real world challenges.
Suleiman stated this in Bauchi on Tuesday, during a one-day Engineering Hackathon Pitching and Innovation Challenge competition organised by the Nigerian Universities Engineering Students’ Association(NUESA).
According to him, the pitching competition with the theme ‘Hacking for Global Goals and Innovation for Impact' is geared toward scientific and technological advancement of the institution.
He added that it also aligned with the vision and mission of providing quality education that prepared the students for the real-world challenges.
“As the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Engineering Technology of this institution, I am deeply committed to fostering an environment where innovation thrives and our students are empowered to tackle real-world challenges.
“The theme itself, commemorating World Engineering Day 2025, underscores the critical role engineers play in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals.
“The projects you will be developing here today have the potential to make a tangible difference in our communities and beyond,” he said.
The Don also encouraged the participants to embrace the opportunity with passion and determination, calling on them to let their creativity flourish and their problem-solving skills shine.
Mr Sani Baba, President, NUESA, ATBU chapter, said that the theme of the competition resonated with their commitment to leverage engineering ingenuity to address the pressing challenges as outlined by the Sustainable Development Goals.
He said that “this event is not just a competition, it is a platform for us, as aspiring engineers, to showcase our creativity, problem-solving skills and dedication to making a positive difference.
“We are here to transform ideas into tangible solutions, to push the boundaries of what is possible, and to demonstrate the power of collaborative
innovation”.
