Stakeholders from various sectors have pledged their commitment to supporting the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project aimed at improving educational opportunities for adolescent girls in Bauchi

The stakeholders made the pledge at an engagement meeting, organised by AGILE on Saturday in Bauchi.

The AGILE Project, a World Bank-supported initiative, seeks to address challenges hindering girls' education, including cultural barriers, financial constraints, and inadequate school infrastructure.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Muhammad Lawan Commissioner of Education emphasised the government’s commitment to creating a conducive learning environment for girls.

"We recognize the critical role of education in empowering young girls and shaping their future. Through AGILE, we aim to reduce the dropout rate, enhance school infrastructure, and provide necessary learning materials," he stated.

Also speaking, Alhaji Nuru Jumba district head of Bauchi Metropolis called for sustained collaboration to ensure the project's long-term impact.

He urged parents, guardians and community members to support girls' education and create an enabling environment for them to thrive academically.

On his part, Mr Mohammed Usman, the National Consultant on Advocacy and Engagement AGILE, said he was impressed with the contributions of the critical stakeholders.

“With the commitment from all parties involved, the AGILE Project is set to make significant strides in transforming the educational landscape for adolescent girls in the State, fostering a future where they can achieve their full potential,” he said.

Stakeholders including government representatives, education experts, community leaders, and development partners reaffirmed their dedication to ensuring the project's success.
