The Bauchi State Government has finalised preparations for its participation in the 22nd National Sports Festival, (NSF) scheduled to take place in Abeokuta, Ogun State, from May 16 to 30, 2025.
The State Deputy Gov, Mr Auwal Jatau disclosed this during a courtesy visit by the officials of the State Sports council and National Sports Commissions at the Government House in Bauchi on Saturday
Jatau confirmed that Gov Bala Mohammed has approved the state's participation and ensured Bauchi’s full involvement in the national event.
He expressed optimism about the state’s chances, noting its rich history of sports excellence.
“Bauchi State has been part of the National Sports Festival since 1976, and over the years, we have demonstrated strength in various sports such as athletics, football, hockey, boxing, and basketball,” Jatau stated.
He also highlighted that the state has consistently won medals in previous editions and reaffirmed the government's commitment to the development of sports and youth empowerment.
The Deputy Gov commended the National Sports Commission and the Festival Committee for promoting unity and peace through sports.
Earlier, Mrs. Mbora Ikana, Team Leader of the Movement of the Torch of Unity for the 22nd National Sports Festival, confirmed the festival's dates and location.
She also lauded Gov Mohammed’s continued support for sports, assuring Bauchi of the Commission’s readiness to assist in elevating its sporting profile.
