State Police Commands in Zone 12 Police Command have been directed to ensure safety of lives and properties before, during and after the 2025 Easter celebrations.
The directive was given by the Assistant Inspector General of Police AIG, in charge of Zone 12 Bauchi, AIG Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu while addressing Zonal top Management Staff during his lecture and which was also applicable to the two Commands of Bauchi and Gombe.
He said that, as the Easter celebration is ongoing, there is the need to emphasize the importance of ensuring the safety and security of worshippers and the general public.
The AIG added that, "Given the significance of this festive period, it is crucial that we take proactive measures to prevent any disruptions or security breaches."
He warned the heads of intelligence departments across the Zone to embark on the intelligence gathering and direct their teams to gather intelligence on potential security threats and share information with relevant agencies.
They are also to increase vigilance and ensure that all personnel are on high alert and maintain a visible presence at worship centers, public gatherings, and other areas of congregation.
There should be coordination with stakeholders including church authorities, local leaders, and other stakeholders to identify potential security concerns and develop strategies to address them.
On crowd management, he directed them to develop and implement effective crowd management plans to prevent overcrowding and ensure a safe environment for worshippers.
They are to ensure swift emergency response in order to respond immediately and plan to ensure that all personnel are equipped to respond promptly and effectively in case of any security incidents.
The Commands are to foster a spirit of cooperation and understanding with the public, and engage with worshippers and the community to build trust and confidence to ensure that all security measures are proportionate to the risks and are implemented in a manner that respects the rights and dignity of all individuals.
The AIG stressed that, "By working together, we can ensure a safe and peaceful Easter celebration for all," as contained in a statement CSP Thomas Goni, Zonal Police public relations officer Bauchi, for Assistant inspector general of Police.
