NBTE inspects 78 programmes for accreditation in Fed Poly Bauchi

By Rauf Oyewole

The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has inspected 78 new and existing programmes at the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi for accreditation and re-accreditation for quality assurance.

The Board’s Director of Polytechnic Programmes and the Team Lead to the Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi, Dr. Fatima Umar and the resource persons were on the Campus for two days to inspect human resources and facilities.

Umar, who was represented by Mr Adesina Oluade, a Staff of the Board, remarked that there was a need for the Institution to fix challenges of students’ reading materials, books, journals, power supply and other learning aids in the laboratories.

She said that the exercise was aimed at strengthening quality assurance mechanisms, and assured the Polytechnic of fair and transparent assessment.

Also, the Rector, Alh. Sani Usman explained that the exercise was a resource inspection and accreditation visit by the Board. According to him, the inspection and accreditation exercise by the NBTE would give the Polytechnic the opportunity to continue running its programmes by evaluating what had been done in the last five years.

He added that it would also enable the management of the institution to make sure that the equipment, personnel and other resources used were always up to date and conform to the needs of the time the accreditation was taking place.

Usman added that the Polytechnic would employ more lecturers in a few months after the government approval to replace its staff who exited the service.
