The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the North-East zone comprising Gombe, Adamawa, Borno, Yobe, Taraba, and Bauchi States has thrown its weight and total loyalty behind its 2023 presidential candidate Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso camp.

Hon. Sabo Imam Gashuwa, who disclosed this while reading the communique signed by the six State Chairmen yesterday during a press conference at the Party Secretariat in Bauchi, said, "We reaffirm our total and unshakable loyalty to our national leader, Engr. Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, whose vision and steadfast leadership continue to guide the NNPP across the nation.

“We also pledge our commitment to the National Chairman, Dr. Ajuji Ahmed, as duly recognized by INEC and in accordance with the party's constitution."

The communique reads, "We stand in full alignment with the recent press release of the NNPP National Secretariat dated 3rd April 2025, regarding the ruling of the FCT High Court. The decision of Justice M.A. Hassan's decision to decline jurisdiction did not in any way invalidate the existing Federal High Court judgment of 18th April 2024, which upheld the expulsion of Boniface Aniebonam, Major Agbo, Olaposi Oginni, and others.

"We strongly condemn the deliberate and shameless attempt by these expelled individuals to twist the ruling and misinform the public. Their activities are not only misleading but a clear ploy to confuse party members and distort public perception," he said.

He continued, "We reaffirm that the current leadership of NNPP, as registered with INEC, remains the only legitimate authority of the party. By virtue of Section 222(1)(a) of the 1999 Constitution and Sections 81 and 83 of the Electoral Act 2022, only records duly filed with INEC are recognized. The names and actions of the expelled members are not recorded nor acknowledged by INEC as affirmed in court."

Gashuwa said, "We urge all members of the NNPP in the North-East to remain disciplined, united, and focused. Our zone continues to grow stronger and gain public support, and we will not allow distractions or sponsored propaganda to derail our progress.

"We pledge to defend the integrity of the NNPP at all levels and remain resolute in advancing the ideals of internal democracy, transparency, and grassroots mobilisation. No attempt to hijack or destabilize the party will succeed under our watch.

Gashuwa noted that the North-East Zonal Leadership assures our teeming supporters that the NNPP remains united and under one leadership-led nationally by Engr. Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. "We urge the public to disregard the antics of expelled individuals and continue supporting the party as we work together for a better Nigeria.”
