Over 100 Community Resource Groups supporting primary healthcare activities in Bauchi State have been honoured by the State Primary Health Care Development Board (BSPHCDB).
The honour and recognition of the CRGs was carried out by way of presenting them with awards and gifts for their support to BSPHCDB in mobilising people within their communities to access healthcare services at the primary healthcare centres across the State.
The 2024 Annual Recognition and Awards Ceremony held on Thursday 17th March, 2025 had in attendance Bauchi State Government officials, Development Partners, Traditional/Community and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs).
In his welcome address at the event, Executive Chairman of the Bauchi State Primary Healthcare Development Board, Dr Rilwanu Mohammed commended the Awardees and implored them to see the volunteer work they are carrying out as a service to humanity.
He said that the Government cannot pay them for their services, urging them to see the honour and recognition as Government efforts in appropriating their services.
In a keynote address, Emir of Dass and Chairman Bauchi State Emirate Committee on Health (BASECOH), Alhaji Usman Bilyaminu Othman, congratulated the Awardees and further urged them redouble their efforts in mobilizing people to access healthcare services in their respective communities.
Emir Othman, who also doubles as the Co-Chair, State Taskforce on Primary Healthcare disclosed that the event has been an annual tradition of the Government to recognise and honour hard work and dedication aimed at improving healthcare services at the primary level.
In his remarks, Bauchi State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Sani Mohammed Dambam expressed his appreciation to the traditional institutions, stressing that their mobilization campaigns over the years had significantly impacted positively in overall healthcare system in the State.
Dambam said that the current administration of Governor Bala Mohammed is giving all the necessary support for improved healthcare services and also creating an enabling environment for partnerships aimed at attaining universal health coverage.
There were goodwill messages from representatives of Gates and Dangote Foundations, AFENET, Chigari Foundation and the State ALGON.
A total of 103 members of CRGs that cut across Ward Hards, CHIPS Agents, Mama2Mama and Fathers for Health received the recognition and awards.
